Our talented Da Vinci Decathlon teams from Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, traveling to Oxford to compete in the prestigious International Da Vinci Decathlon! It was a journey filled with excitement, discovery, and unforgettable experiences, and we are thrilled to share some highlights from their incredible time abroad.
Their adventure began in the United Kingdom, where the students immersed themselves in the magic of the Harry Potter Studios, a dream come true for many. They marveled at famous movie sets and even stood at Platform 9 ¾, where generations of wizards and witches began their journey to Hogwarts. With their spirits lifted by the magic of Harry Potter, our students went on to explore the vibrant and bustling streets of London. They meandered through Chinatown, soaking in the sights and sounds of the lively neighborhood, and made a memorable visit to Hatchard’s—London’s oldest bookstore, where the history and love of literature come alive.
The students also took in some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including the majestic Trafalgar Square, the historic Tower of London, the towering London Eye, and the grandeur of Buckingham Palace. Each stop was a chance to connect with the rich culture and history of one of the world’s greatest cities.
After their explorations in London, our teams traveled to Oxford, where they faced off against top competitors from around the globe at the renowned Trinity College. The students put their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork to the test, showcasing everything they had prepared for this momentous event. It was a unique opportunity to compete in a historic setting surrounded by some of the world’s brightest minds, and our students made the most of every second.
The adventure continued as the group made their way to Milan, Italy! In Milan, they explored the wonders of Leonardo da Vinci’s world, starting with a visit to the stunning Duomo Cathedral. They admired the incredible architecture and were awed by the intricate details that make this landmark one of Italy’s most iconic. The visit to Leonardo Da Vinci World was equally exciting, as our students had the chance to dive into the mind of the Renaissance genius, exploring his inventions and creative vision.
The Italian leg of their journey was packed with awe-inspiring experiences. They visited Vatican City, where they admired the breathtaking St. Peter’s Basilica and marveled at the artistry of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel. The students then stepped back in time as they explored the historic Colosseum and the ancient Roman Forum, gaining a newfound appreciation for Italy’s rich history and culture. Their journey also included a stop in Florence, where the beauty of Renaissance art and architecture surrounded them at every turn.
As their travels came to an end, our students embarked on the long journey back home, full of stories, memories, and lessons that will last a lifetime. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College, not only through their remarkable achievements in the competition but also through their enthusiasm and appreciation for the incredible experiences they had.
