The middle years of schooling are a time of intense transition, second only to the first two years of life. With these changes in young people’s lives come a variety of distinct social, physical, emotional, and academic needs.  

The Middle School at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College provides an integrated approach to wellbeing, teaching and learning that is developmentally responsive and provides our young adolescents with the opportunity to flourish. 

• Middle School teachers focus on cooperative learning that is relevant to the real world where students are encouraged to employ higher-order thinking strategies and engage in authentic and reflective assessments with high expectations. 
• There is a strong emphasis on holistic student development, fostering social and emotional well-being through dedicated pastoral care initiatives and actively teaching essential skills for healthy self-identities and effective emotional navigation. 
• Leadership opportunities are created for Middle School students to develop and explore their leadership skills through community service, confidence building, practical experience, and genuine student representation. 

Middle School staff work closely with both Junior School and Senior School to ensure smooth sub-school transitions for students, both pastorally and academically.
