Kindergarten Orientation 2025: A Beautiful Beginning

Over the past few weeks, our campus has been filled with laughter, curiosity and plenty of smiling faces as we welcomed our incoming Kindergarten students for our 2025 Kindergarten Orientation program. These special moments gave our newest learners the chance to spend time on campus, meet their teachers and begin forming friendships ahead of the new school year.

With a mix of children continuing from our Preschool and those joining Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College from other early learning settings, Orientation is an important time for connection. For some students, this was their first experience in a new environment with unfamiliar faces, and it was heartwarming to see confidence grow with each visit.

Little Moments That Matter

Our Orientation journey began with two afternoon visits in November. During these sessions, students spent time in small groups with our Kindergarten teachers, enjoying a range of fun, hands-on activities including sport, creative art and shared play. These relaxed afternoons allowed children to explore their new surroundings, get comfortable with their teachers and begin making new friends, all at their own pace.

The Step Up Day was a highlight for many of our students. Joining us during school hours, the children experienced a half day immersed in the Kindergarten learning environment. From following routines to engaging in classroom activities, this day offered a wonderful glimpse into what their Kindergarten days will look like next year, helping school feel familiar and exciting.

We wrapped up our Orientation program with one of the most joyful afternoons of all — Scoops & Play. With ice creams in hand and plenty of time to play together on campus, students shared one final chance to connect and laugh with their new friends before the end of the year. It was a simple but meaningful way to celebrate the friendships that have already begun to form.

Looking Ahead With Confidence

As our Orientation program came to an end, it was wonderful to see just how much our incoming Kindergarten students had grown in confidence and familiarity. What began as tentative first visits quickly became happy arrivals, with children recognising their teachers, greeting new friends and moving around the campus with increasing ease.

Through shared experiences, gentle routines and plenty of play, students have already begun to feel a sense of belonging at Bishop Tyrrell. For families, it has been reassuring to watch connections form and see children leave each session smiling, proud and excited to return.

These early moments matter. They help children step into the new school year feeling secure, supported and ready to learn. With familiar faces, trusted teachers and a growing sense of community already in place, our incoming Kindergarten students are well prepared for a positive and confident start to 2026.

We can’t wait to welcome them back in the new year and continue walking alongside them as they begin their school journey with us.
