  • Our Preschool program is guided by children’s play, interests and voices, supporting curiosity, creativity and confidence as children explore, question and make meaning of the world around them.
  • We place a strong emphasis on relationships and wellbeing, nurturing each child’s sense of belonging, independence and emotional development within a caring, community-focused environment.
  • Children learn in rich indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage movement, collaboration and discovery, with literacy and numeracy thoughtfully embedded in everyday experiences.

From playful exploration to meaningful connections, our Preschool supports children to develop curiosity, resilience and confidence as they take their first steps on the journey through school.

Play-based learning, guided by curiosity

At Bishop Tyrrell Preschool, learning is guided by children’s curiosity, play and emerging ideas. Our educators thoughtfully observe, listen and reflect on children’s interests to design experiences that support each child’s development, growth and sense of wonder.

Engaging spaces for discovery

Learning takes place across engaging indoor and outdoor spaces, using materials that invite exploration and imagination. Children move freely between spaces, choosing how and where they learn, while educators gently extend thinking and learning through intentional interactions.

Building strong foundations

Through play-based learning, children develop strong foundations in communication, early literacy and numeracy, problem-solving, creativity and social skills. They are encouraged to ask questions, take risks, collaborate with others and build independence in an environment where they feel safe, supported and valued.

Part of a wider College community

As part of the Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College community, Preschool children enjoy regular connections with the College through visits to Chapel, Music, the Library, PE and Art. These experiences enrich learning, build familiarity and help make the transition to Kindergarten a positive and exciting step.

  • “Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is more than a school for our family, it’s a community. With two children who have journeyed from preschool through to senior school, we’ve watched them grow in confidence, character and independence.

Most importantly, they’ve become curious and courageous learners, willing to try new things in an environment where kindness, care and encouragement are part of everyday life.”

  • “I am a parent of four children, three of whom currently attend Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College (BTAC), with one yet to commence school, and have been part of the BTAC community for over six years. We have loved our time at BTAC, our children are happy and enjoy going to school each and every day.

One of the biggest contributors to our positive experience at BTAC is the teachers – they are amazing! They love what they do and truly care about every single student. They go above and beyond to make sure every student is seen, heard, and their individual potential achieved, not only academically but socially and emotionally.”

  • “We’ve been part of BTAC for several years, with our children starting in Preschool and now in Junior and Middle School. They’ve been given wonderful opportunities to grow academically, in sport and through extra-curricular activities, building strong foundations for success beyond the classroom.

We’ve seen them develop confidence, leadership and empathy, supported by passionate teachers who genuinely nurture a love of learning. When challenges arise, they’re handled with care, respect and clear communication, something we truly value as parents.”
