Harmony Day is always a special occasion in our College community, and this year was a beautiful reminder of the strength and richness found in our diversity.

Our campus came alive with colour as students and staff wore orange and proudly shared traditional cultural dress. Each outfit and story added to a vibrant reflection of who we are as a community. Harmony Day is a chance for us to pause and celebrate the many backgrounds, cultures and experiences that shape our College, and to recognise the importance of respect, inclusion and a true sense of belonging.

A highlight of the day was the connection between our younger and older students. Kindergarten to Year 4 students spent the afternoon creating artwork alongside their buddies from Years 5 to 9. Each student contributed a unique piece, which came together to form a collaborative display spelling out “Harmony.” It was a meaningful reminder that every individual plays an important part in something greater, and that when we come together, we create something truly special.

Our Year 10 students also played a key role in bringing the day to life, hosting a café style lunch for Middle and Senior School students. The menu featured a range of fusion dishes, such as pizza dumplings and white chocolate matcha balls, thoughtfully prepared and served by the students. It was wonderful to see students sharing food, conversation and experiences, while celebrating cultures from around the world.

We were also touched by a thoughtful gesture from one of our families, who gifted our Front Office staff a Persian grass bowl, known as Sabzeh. Traditionally symbolising rebirth, vitality and the renewal of nature, it was a meaningful addition to the day and a lovely reflection of the cultures that are part of our community.

Harmony Day is more than a single day of celebration at Bishop Tyrrell. It reflects the heart of our community and the way we care for and learn from one another every day. We are proud to be a place where every student is known, valued and supported to belong.

We are grateful for the spirit in which our students and staff embraced the day, and for the opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes our College such a welcoming and connected community.
