Academic Scholarships
Eligibility for an academic scholarship at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is based on a combination of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, leadership qualities, and a genuine commitment to learning and personal growth.
The Scholarship Committee carefully evaluates each application to select deserving recipients who embody the values of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity upheld by the College.
To support your application, you’ll find document requirements and scholarship criteria outlined below.
To apply, students will need to provide the following:
Personal Statement: Applicants will be required to submit a handwritten personal statement or essay to the Principal outlining why they wish to be educated at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College. It should also address each of the Academic Scholarship Criteria found below. This provides an opportunity for applicants to articulate their passion for learning and commitment to academic excellence.
Letters of Recommendation: No more than three supporting letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or other individuals familiar with the student’s academic abilities and character will need to be submitted. These letters can provide additional insight into the applicant’s academic potential and personal qualities.
Academic reports: Upload your last four academic reports, NAPLAN results and any academic awards received by the applicant.
Interview: Applicants will be required to participate in an interview to further assess their suitability for the scholarship. This interview may focus on academic interests, goals, and the applicant’s potential contribution to the academic community at the College.
Academic Scholarship Criteria
Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a strong academic record, including outstanding grades and a high Grade Point Average (GPA). This may be demonstrated through school reports, NAPLAN Test results, and academic awards or honours.
Intellectual Curiosity: Eligible students should exhibit a genuine passion for learning, intellectual curiosity, and a thirst for knowledge both inside and beyond the classroom. This may be demonstrated through participation in academic competitions, research projects, or extra-curricular work.
Leadership and Initiative: Applicants should demonstrate leadership qualities, initiative, and a proactive approach to their academic pursuits. This may include involvement in school clubs, student leadership, or community service initiatives that showcase leadership skills and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Extracurricular Involvement: While the primary focus of an academic scholarship is on academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, or the arts will also be considered positively. Active participation in diverse activities demonstrates a well-rounded approach to education and personal development.
