Through engaging learning experiences and meaningful connections, Junior School supports children to grow academically, socially and personally as they prepare for the next stage of their school journey.

A broad and engaging curriculum

At Bishop Tyrrell’s Junior School, students in Kindergarten to Year 4 engage with a rich and diverse curriculum based on the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements. Key learning areas include English, Mathematics, Digital Technologies, HSIE (Human Society in its Environment), PDHPE, Christian Studies, Creative Arts and STEM. Lessons are designed to challenge, inspire and support each child’s individual development.

Specialist lessons and STEM

Students benefit from specialist lessons, including a weekly STEM class where they develop problem-solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills. Creative arts, performing arts, music and physical education also provide opportunities to explore interests and talents beyond the classroom.

Co-curricular opportunities and enrichment

Our unique co-curricular program encourages students to pursue their passions and discover new interests both on and off campus. Leadership opportunities, mentoring programs, sports, academic competitions and creative projects further enrich learning, helping students build confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement.

Preparing for the next stage

Through these varied experiences, Junior School students develop curiosity, independence and a love of learning, laying strong foundations for their transition into Middle School and beyond.

  • “Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is more than a school for our family, it’s a community. With two children who have journeyed from preschool through to senior school, we’ve watched them grow in confidence, character and independence.

Most importantly, they’ve become curious and courageous learners, willing to try new things in an environment where kindness, care and encouragement are part of everyday life.”

  • “I am a parent of four children, three of whom currently attend Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College (BTAC), with one yet to commence school, and have been part of the BTAC community for over six years. We have loved our time at BTAC, our children are happy and enjoy going to school each and every day.

One of the biggest contributors to our positive experience at BTAC is the teachers – they are amazing! They love what they do and truly care about every single student. They go above and beyond to make sure every student is seen, heard, and their individual potential achieved, not only academically but socially and emotionally.”

  • “We’ve been part of BTAC for several years, with our children starting in Preschool and now in Junior and Middle School. They’ve been given wonderful opportunities to grow academically, in sport and through extra-curricular activities, building strong foundations for success beyond the classroom.

We’ve seen them develop confidence, leadership and empathy, supported by passionate teachers who genuinely nurture a love of learning. When challenges arise, they’re handled with care, respect and clear communication, something we truly value as parents.”
