Samaritans Gift Giving Tree

Bishop Tyrrell Gift Giving Tree is up!  Let the spirit of Christmas and compassion begin.

Each year at Bishop Tyrell Anglican College, we encourage the students to engage in social justice activities. We do this because we believe that it is a way for students to address the needs of others in our community as well as encourage them to display compassion. We hope that all of our students will develop a spirit of generosity towards others. With this in mind, the Campus Ministry Team is inviting students and their parents to participate in the Samaritans Christmas Appeal's Giving Tree.

Each student is being encouraged to bring a gift of joy into their classroom or Tutor group to add to our school’s collection baskets. Samaritans have listed some great gift ideas below for wrapped gifts with a tag on them indicating which age they would be suitable for (and boy/girl where relevant).

These items will then be collected together and blessed at our Chapel services in Week 8 by Reverend Jacqueline Weston. "Our giving tree donations will make a big difference to local families seeking help over the Christmas holiday period through Samaritans emergency relief centres," said Reverend Weston.

"The items will be collected in House groups and there will be a reward for the House that collects the most donations.

"We want to thank you in advance for just grabbing that extra item or items next time you are doing your shopping to help our local families who will be doing it tough at this time of year.

"We hope that we can teach our children that compassion starts at home, but transforms our world," said Jacqui.
