Principal’s Welcome

A message from the Principal.

Welcome to the 2020 school year at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College. I am delighted to be your new Principal and look forward to getting to know about all the exciting goals you are planning to accomplish as you Learn, Lead and Serve during the year.

Your teachers will engage and empower you to love learning, to strive for success in all that you do and to prepare for your future after school. They will care about your well-being and your safety and create a learning environment where you can be your best self.

Across our College your learning will involve a strong focus on developing your literacy and numeracy skills throughout the year levels. In each of the key learning areas and subjects, your teachers will provide opportunities for you to develop the important skills you will need for success in school and in life. These skills help you to learn more deeply by thinking critically, collaborating with others to achieve team goals, communicating effectively, being creative and innovative, being a person of good character and being an outstanding citizen in and outside your school community. During the year we will all be involved in the new Deep Learning Program. Our school is very proud to be part of the global community implementing this program.

Our College is one of the Anglican Schools in the Diocese of Newcastle and we believe in living our core Christian values each day in our community life together. We value intellectual challenge and learning, developing the whole child, caring for one another; and seeking peace, inclusivity, and social justice. There are many opportunities for you to Learn, to Lead and to Serve others every day at school and in the wider community.

I encourage you to Seize the Day, every day in 2020.
