Why student leadership is important in education?

Leadership is about the art of motivating, influencing and directing people so that they work together to achieve the goals of a team or broader organisation. It’s important for students to experience leadership opportunities during their schooling, to learn the art of building relationships within teams, defining identities and achieving tasks effectively.

Congratulations to Grace Boyle, Year 12 2016, whose Musicology Viva Voce on the Beatles was selected as an exemplary work in the 2016 HSC Music 1 Examination. Grace’s outstanding achievement will be acknowledged as part of ENCORE 2016 Honour Roll.

As I prepare my Christmas message, we, the community, prepare for what have evolved as Christmas Day traditions.

For weeks, we are bombarded by the usual suspects proclaiming ‘the perfect Christmas gift idea’. Even online, we can’t escape it. In fact, recently I came across a website advertising a suite of somewhat unusual Christmas gifts:

A shower head with a temperature-controlled light that changes colour, turning the water from blue to red as it heats up.

Why faith is important in education

A faith-based education provides students with a strong sense of direction in life. As a collective, students share the same beliefs and values which provide a meaningful education experience.

The theologian Karl Barth offers some useful guidelines to help us understand our responsibility in responding to God’s calling.
