Two member’s of the AFL’s Sydney Swans team visited excited Years 3 to 6 students on Tuesday 9th February to talk about their rise to elite sporting success.
Star midfielder, Dan Hannebery, and new recruit, Abe Davis spoke at the Primary School assembly, giving a memorable presentation to students.
Dan spoke about the importance of being active. “Adapting good habits early in life and playing outside for at least an hour per day is vital to healthy living,” he said.
His number one tip to students was to encourage their friends and siblings to play games or sport together, as this would make exercise more fun.
Abe added that healthy eating improves wellbeing as well as sporting performance. Being new to the team, Abe has regular appointments with the team nutritionist to stay on top of his diet choices.
Both players also shared their passion for AFL football and the highlights of their sporting careers.
The students enjoyed the experience and enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to ask probing questions at the end of the session and have merchandise autographed.
